Aniseed Pimpinella Anisum

Description:

An annual herb less then 3ft/1m high with delicate leaves and white flowers.

Actions:

Antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, diuretic, expectorant, galactagogue, stimulant, stomachic.

Extraction:

The oil is extracted by steam distillation from the seeds

Characteristics:

A colourless to pale yellow liquid, with a characteristic warm, spicy-sweet scent.
It blends well with other spice oils.

Safety Data:

The major component, anethole, is known to cause dermatitis in some individuals - avoid in allergic conditions and inflammatory skin conditions. In large doses it is narcotic, slows down the circulation and can lead to cerebral disorders - USE IN MODERATION ONLY.
