Description:
Stout biennial or perennial herb up to 3ft/1m high with large hairy leaves, green with a hint of purple and small blue flowers.
Actions:
Anticonvulsive, antidepressant, antipholgistic, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, cicatrizant, deodorant, digestive, emmenagogue, hypotensive, nervine, sedative, stomachic, uterine tonic.
Extraction:
The oil is extracted by steam distillation from the flowering tops and leaves.
Characteristics:
A colourless or pale yellowy-green liquid with a sweet , nutty-herbaceous scent. It blends well with juniper, lavender, coriander, cardamom, geranium, sandalwood, cedarwood, pine, jasmine, frankincense, bergamot and all the citrus oils.
