Description:

A small evergreen tree up to 20ft/6m high, with flossy leaves, fragrant flowers and bearing fleshy fruit. The tangerine is larger then the mandarin and is rounder, with a more yellowy skin.

Actions:

Antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, digestive, diuretic (mild), laxative (mild) sedative, stimulant (to digestive and lymphatic systems), tonic.

Extraction:

The oil is extracted by cold expression from the outer peel.

Characteristics:

Mandarin oil is a yellowy-orange, mobile liquid with a blue-violet hint. It has a sweet, almost floral, citrus scent. It blends well with other citrus oils, especially neroli, and spice oils such as nutmeg, cinnamon and clove.
