Description:

A biennial or short loved perennial herb up ti 28in/70cm high with crinkly, bright green foliage and small, greenish yellow flowers producing small brown seeds, when ripe.

Actions:

Antimicrobial, antirheumatic, antiseptic, astringent, carminative, diuretic, depurative, emmenagogue, febrifuge, hypotensive, laxative, stimulant (mild)stomachic, tonic (uterine)

Extraction:

The oils is extracted by steam distillation from the seeds (a different oil with slightly different properties is also produced from the herb)

Characteristics:

A yellow, amber of brownish liquid with a warm, woody-spicy, herbaceous odour. It blends well with rose, neroli, ylang ylang, tea tree, clary sage, and spice oils

Safety Data:

Although this oil is moderately toxic and irritant - apiol has been shown to have irritant properties - it is nonsensitising when used in moderation WARNING: Avoid using this oil during pregnancy.
