Vetiveria Zizanoides/Andropogun Muricatus

Description:

A tall, tufted, perennial, scented grass with a straight stem, long narrow leaves and an abundant, complex lacework of underground white rootlets.

Actions:

Antiseptic, antispasmodic, depurative, rubefacient, sedative (to the nervous system), stimulant (circulatory and to blood itself), tonic, vermifuge.

Extraction:

The oil id extracted by steam distillation from the roots and rootlets - which have been washed, chopped, dried and soaked.

Characteristics:

A dark brown, olive or amber viscous oils with deep, smoky, earthy-woody odour and a sweet persistent undertone. The colour and scent can vary according to the source. It blends well with sandalwood, rose, jasmine, patchouli, lavender, clary sage and ylang ylang.
